Socket Sets
JCB socket sets give professional mechanics, tradespeople and engineers the drive coverage and socket range to handle any fastening task efficiently. The range spans 1/4-inch, 3/8-inch and 1/2-inch drive sets in chrome vanadium steel, from a 26-piece impact-rated socket and ratchet set through to a 216-piece comprehensive workshop kit. All sockets are manufactured from chrome vanadium steel with mirror-polished chrome finish. Impact-rated sockets are black phosphate finished for use with air and electric impact wrenches — these must not be used with standard chrome sockets. Moulded cases with individually labelled socket positions make finding the right size fast on site or in the workshop.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between 3/8 and 1/2-inch drive socket sets?
The drive size refers to the square drive connection between the ratchet and socket. 1/2-inch drive handles higher torque for large fasteners like wheel nuts. 3/8-inch drive is more compact for medium-torque work. Both use different sockets that are not interchangeable without an adaptor.
Can I use chrome sockets with an impact wrench?
No. Standard chrome sockets are not rated for the impact forces of an air or electric impact wrench and can crack or shatter dangerously. Use black phosphate-finished impact sockets, which are specifically designed to absorb impact forces.
What is included in the JCB 216-piece socket set?
The JCB 216-piece set includes 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2-inch drive sockets in metric and imperial sizes, ratchets, extension bars, universal joints, bit sockets and a moulded case. Full contents listed on the product page.
