What are the detailed terms of my JCB warranty for petrol powered machines?
JCB Portable Power and Outdoor Power Equipment Warranty Terms
JCB portable power products are guaranteed to be free from defects in material and workmanship for the length of the warranty period from the original date of purchase. This warranty ensures that any defective part will be repaired or replaced at the discretion of JCB Tools.
To use the warranty, we require the model number, serial number, proof of purchase, and service records if applicable.
1. Residential / non-commercial usage
1.1 Product covered for the full duration of the warranty period, which provides parts, labour and carriage effective from date of purchase.
2. Commercial / hire use
2.1 Warranty for a period of one year for commercial use or 90 days for hire, which provides parts, labour and carriage effective from date of purchase.
3. Policy notes
3.1 Continual from the date of purchase and does not restart at any time or under any circumstances. Warranties are not transferable. The warranty is only valid when the machine receives all preventative maintenance and is serviced as per the manufacturer’s documentation with recommended oils where applicable.
4. In the event of a fault
4.1 Please contact JCB Tools. Our aftersales team will guide you through basic diagnostics to determine the fault. If we are unable to resolve the issue, we will request that the machine be returned to us for further inspection and testing.
5. Transit of goods
5.1 JCB Tools will arrange collection of goods within the warranty period. If the fault is deemed to be covered under warranty, collection, repair and return will be free of charge. If the collection or return is to an extended postcode such as Highlands or Islands, the customer will need to contribute towards the carriage costs.
5.2 If the fault is found to be a non-warranty fault, the customer would need to pay transportation, handling and workshop labour charges. If collection or return is to an extended postcode such as Highlands and Islands, the collection and delivery costs will include a surcharge to cover the extended areas.
5.3 The customer is responsible for draining all fuel and oil from the machine.
5.4 The customer is responsible for safely and securely packaging the machine. It is advisable to keep the original packaging safe for this purpose.
5.5 We will only accept responsibility for the machine when it has been received and inspected at the point of delivery to ourselves.
5.6 We can arrange the collection at our cost (subject to the terms above).
5.7 Upon completion of repairs we will arrange for the machine to be sent back to the customer at our cost. Highlands and islands may incur a surcharge to cover the extra transportation costs. For the Channel Islands, it is usually more cost effective for the customer to send the unit to the mainland and we will collect and return to the designated mainland address as normal.
6. Inspection and repair of machinery
6.1 At our discretion we will provide a like-for-like replacement or repair the product or any components that have failed within the warranty period.
6.2 JCB Tools will inform you of any costs that are outside of the warranty before commencing any repairs.
7. Parts-only requests
7.1 The customer may request parts to be dispatched under the warranty agreement.
7.2 JCB Tools may accept photographic evidence of failed components, provided it is clear that the failure is a manufacturing defect. If this is not possible, the failed part must be returned to JCB Tools for inspection. If the parts are deemed to have failed due to a manufacturing defect a replacement part will be issued.
